What was previously imagined as a curtain wall structure was redesigned with setback glazing and a series of horizontal and vertical exterior shading elements.Program areas were rearranged to align common spaces and connect them with a intercommunicating stair to reduce lighting demand in a now contiguous space that vertically slices through the building.Expansive floor opening draw the eye through shifting vertically connected spaces. The roof plane at the upper floor of this circulation and casual space was reimagined as a paper thin element that lifted high above the space with shielded clerestory glazing intent on making the upper floor daylight autonomous during daylight hours.Project Details Architect: Gensler Completion: 2021 Size: 60,000 sf Location: Riverside, CA EUI: 34 kBtu/sf/yr
